Episode 40 – Brewscuits – Petrina DiOrio and Kimberly Triol

This episode features Petrina DiOrio and Kimberly Triol of Brewsquits.   “If it’s not fun then why do it?”  Kim and Petrina rescue dogs, foster dogs and take care of military family dogs. They are also home brewers.  After brewing up a batch they took their spent grains outside for composting.  This time all of the dogs started devouring it.  They considered what they witnessed and said why not make a dog biscuit.  They started from their home with a little oven.  What they make is deliciousness for dogs.  All Natural… Hand Made… No Preservatives… All made from spent grains from local breweries and distilleries.  They are certainly having fun and doing it for good causes too.

Hammonton ~ “Brewberry” Capital of the World

Hammonton New Jersey is the blueberry capital of the world. Just off of the Atlantic City Expressway and halfway between Philly and Atlantic City this berry meca is producing some first class beer. You can reach it by NJ transit if you prefer not to drive. Everything is within walking distance and most certainly worth the trip. This little town has so much to offer… Sensational Cannolis at Mannino’s Cannoli Express, Shopping, delicious Mexican dining and plenty of Italian food to choose from.

Still in the midst of the Covid shut down the business’s on the main streets struggle to keep the lights on and the doors open. Small business here is doing what they can with the restrictions that have been placed on them. That doesn’t appear to be deterring the production of beer. With 3 craft breweries there is soo much variety to choose from.

Our Hammonton Fermented Adventure started at Vinyl Brewing Company. They had a few tables set up outside and an area for curbside pick up. The highlight for us was being able to sit down at the bar and feel almost normal. It was the first day in months that they were allowed to be open for inside seating. We are big fans of sours and they definitely didn’t disappoint. We tried The DAG (Gose w/yogart, sea salt, coriander & Lime), He wears t-shirts sometimes (Hoppy Cream Ale), Daily Grind (Coffee Milk Stout) and Looks Good on You Though (Hammonton Blueberry Saison). Don’t worry IPA fans there are plenty there to satisfy you too.

Just a short trip up the Main Street is Chimney Rustic Ales. They created a nice outdoor garden area complete with herbs and hot peppers. At this point on our little visit the sun was starting to set. The beer we picked was a perfect compliment to the sunset. Brined Melon (Cucumber-Lime Gose) Which apparently was inspired by a favorite cocktail. Burn-one-Down is a sensational barrel aged smoked ale. They used Wild Turkey Barrels on this one. The Griz (Lemongrass Grisette) was spot on. This brewery is hitting all of the right notes.

Not even a mile away is Three 3’s Brewing Co. They have the largest outdoor seating area of the 3 breweries that we visited. The area is a perfect beer garden setting. The moon and stars began to appear. It was a crisp Summer Jersey night. The Chocolate Raspberry Stout and The Trifecta Saison (Blueberries, Strawberries and Blackberries) were perfect to complete our incredible visit to Hammonton. Well balanced and loaded with flavor.

OK, so we were not done yet. Any Fermented Adventure needs food. Just on the other side of the railroad tracks from Three 3’s is Ricca’s Brick Oven. If your still in the mood for Beer, Wine and Cocktails they have a full bar and they are featuring local pours. You can take out or eat in. The pizza is legit. We had the Mom’s Meatball Supreme.

Episode #18 with Jim Pappas of Philadelphia Cheesesteak Adventure

On the set of Fermented Adventure The Show

This episode features Jim Pappas of Philadelphia Cheesesteak Adventure. It was recorded at the Peacock Room. We enjoyed 2 great cheesesteaks in the Cheesesteak Adventure style and paired them with Philadelphia Brewing beers and Commonwealth Cider. Jim started his adventure of cheesesteak goodness at Claymont Steaks Shop in Delaware. Driving Uber and Lyft he got to talk with other fellow cheesesteak lovers who would talk about their favorites and defend them to the end. To date Jim has tried over 500 cheesesteaks.
