Episode 140 – Caroline Kristof – Kristof Farms

This episode features Caroline Kristof of Kristof Farms.

In 1971 Caroline’s grandfather purchased 75 acres in Yamhill, Oregon. Originally the farm produced cherries which were grown for the cherry pie industry. Over time the land around them became populated by vineyards and those beautiful cherries were no longer as desirable. In 2018 a decision was made to put in apple trees. Half of what was planted were grapes vines and the other half different apple varietals. They have relied on help and advice from wonderful friends in the cider industry. They have a passion to learn and experience what it takes to make outstanding cider. Each harvest brings them closer to their dream of having guests visit and experience the Kristof family hospitality. They have an exciting future ahead.

Episode 111 – Method Spirits – Corey Fitzsimmons

This episode features Corey Fitzsimmons of Method Spirits.

Corey was a bartender in New York City for over a decade.  He had the honor of being the head bartender at the new location for the Union Square Cafe.  He quickly discovered the he was not able to source local vermouth that would work for classic cocktails.  He began working on a vermouth using his own recipes and exploring opportunities.  This took him to going out on his own to develop Method Spirits.  He and his partners spent 2 years developing the recipe for their sweet vermouth.  We have to share that it is delicious and complex.  It gives wonderful depth and character to cocktails and it stands on its own neat or with a little club soda.  Keep an eye out for the dry vermouth that they have created.

Episode 107 – Michael Juergens – Bhutan Wine Company

In this episode we speak with Michael Juergens of Bhutan Wine Company.

Michael grew up in Southern California.  He was a punk rock skateboard kid.  His origins were not in wine.  His dad came home from a business trip to Italy with a bottle of wine.  He suggested that they drink the wine and smoke cigars.  At his mothers insistence, off to the garage they went.  The first sip flipped a switch.  This led him to being interested and curious about wine.  That was 30 years ago.  Our discussion of wine and Michael’s experiences was fascinating and entertaining.  You will learn about the “worlds leading wine influencer”.  Discover how The Bhutan Wind Company, SoCal Rum Company and Drinking & Knowing Things, got their start.  Plus, so much more.

Episode 59 – Auburn Road Vineyards, Winery and Enoteca – Scott and Julianne Donnini

This episode features Scott and Julianne Donnini of Auburn Road Vineyard and Winery.  “Growing grapes is an art.”

Scott and Julianne were both practicing attorneys in the City of Philadelphia.  They had reached a time in their lives where they did some searching about the life that they wanted for their future.  It was over a bottle of wine that the conversation of a winery took shape.  They had no idea how to farm, grow grapes or make wine.  They drew from their experiences in Italy to create a vision of what guided them to open Auburn Road.  When it opened in November of 2007 it was the 26th winery in New Jersey.  Today it thrives as a social hub, a mini vacation spot and a destination that transports you to experience some tremendously wonderful wines.  117 Sharptown-Auburn Rd, Pilesgrove, NJ 08098 – (856) 769-9463 – www.AuburnRoadVineyards.comFacebook
