This episode features Ben Brown of Porchlight.

Ben, like so many other hopefuls in the hospitality industry started in an entry level position. Immediately Ben showed promise and the company recognized his ability to make connections with people. In 2015 Porchlight opened and Ben arrived as a bar back and server. He quickly rose through the ranks where today he is the beverage director. Located in Chelsea, Porchlight can accommodate single diners all the way up to large groups. The food is southern inspired. You could call it “Elevated Bar Food”. The cocktail menu is vast, outstanding and creative. Ben and the team are setting the trends at one of New York’s hottest cocktail bars.

This episode features Daniel Hare of ⁠CR Citrus⁠.

In 2017 “Smokin Connie” got a Traeger grill. When visiting his father’s home he came across a Meyer lemon tree in the backyard. The idea came to him to slice and smoke the lemons. Through a lot of trial and error he dialed in a perfect recipe. Initially they made great Christmas gifts. The demand from family and friends became so great and they clamored for more of his delectable fruit slices. Suggestions for other varieties of fruit poured in. He makes these magic slices because it brings him joy. In September of 2021 CR Citrus was launched as a business. It’s not just a garnish but an enhancer of flavor in your drink.

Bar Convent Brooklyn 2023 – Jackie Williams

Bar Convent Brooklyn was back in Industry City for 2023. This years event was expanded to occupy more space. The booths and activations were bigger and even better. BCB is a party where business gets done. 4,500 industry professionals attended over 2 days. There were 198 brands represented and visitors came from 51 countries and 46 states. 475,000 spirit samples were enjoyed. Very early on he discovered that the zest for amaro was in his DNA.  Amaro Santoni is a traditional recipe made by Gabriello Santoni.  It’s produced with Rhubarb Root,  Iris Flower and Olive Leaf.  It takes your drinking experience into the third dimension.  If you love amaro, this is a must have on your bar.

In 2018 BCB was launched.  In 2022 BCB celebrated it’s new Brooklyn home at Industry City.
