Episode 187 – Pour Richard’s Coffee Co. & Distillery – Rich and M.J. Berman

This episode features Rich Berman and M.J. Berman of Pour Richard’s Coffee Co. & Distillery.

Pour Richard’s Coffee Co. got started on 12/13/2013 after Rich had been roasting coffee beans at home for a few years. Friends and family began to inquire when they could buy the delicious smelling coffee beans. They succumbed to their dreams and opened up the business for people to sample and enjoy their labor of love for craft coffee. In 2014 the idea for the distillery was planted. They have taken the amazing coffee and cascara that they roast and they’ve created tantalizing and delightful expressions. This bean to cup endeavor is lifting up communities and making an impact one small batch at a time.

Episode 180 – Drew Mayville – Buffalo Trace/Sazerac

This episode features Drew Mayville of Buffalo Trace and Sazerac.

When Drew was originally looking for work he applied to a brewery and a distillery. The distillery turned out to be Seagram’s. In hind sight this was his best move. He began in the distillery lab. After many years of working in different areas he was promoted to the Master Blender. We discuss his role at Buffalo Trace and some of the nuances for being a Master Blender. His first priority is being responsible for the consistency and quality of the spirit that goes into every bottle. Drew is always looking to make a better whiskey with Sazerac’s Buffalo Trace Distillery. Today he’s transitioning into being more of an ambassador and educating people about the products. After the interview, The Master Blender led us through a master class on some of Buffalo Trace’s most coveted expressions. Almost 200 plus in attendance at Roger Wilco were grateful for this once in a lifetime experience.

Episode 171 – Siwani Spirits – Camylle Coley

This episode features Camylle Coley of Siwani Spirits.

Siwani is the brainchild that was produced over an evolution of ideas. It all emanated from Gullah and GeeChee culture. During covid Camylle began to study the culture and her connection to the people and her ancestry. She also discovered whiskey, in particular, rice whiskey. She pondered “What if there was a rice spirit made from Carolina Gold Rice”? Camylle does have distilling in her blood. Through her relationship and partnerships in the craft industry she has been able to bring Siwani Spirit to life.
