Episode 171 – Siwani Spirits – Camylle Coley

This episode features Camylle Coley of Siwani Spirits.

Siwani is the brainchild that was produced over an evolution of ideas. It all emanated from Gullah and GeeChee culture. During covid Camylle began to study the culture and her connection to the people and her ancestry. She also discovered whiskey, in particular, rice whiskey. She pondered “What if there was a rice spirit made from Carolina Gold Rice”? Camylle does have distilling in her blood. Through her relationship and partnerships in the craft industry she has been able to bring Siwani Spirit to life.

Episode 156 – Keeper’s Heart Whiskey – Pip Hanson

This episode features Pip Hanson of Keeper’s Heart Whiskey.

Keeper’s Heart was created at an O’Shaughnessy, Irish American family reunion in Minneapolis five years ago. The O’Shaughnessy’s came to America during the potato famine. The reunion brought the family together to reminisce and converse over whiskey. The idea to start a distillery sprang to life. This family endeavor would pay homage to the ideals and traditions of their immigrant roots. Today a 30,000 square foot distillery, restaurant and bar has come to fruition. Brian Nation was brought onboard to be the head distiller and blender. Steps were taken to source the finest whisky from their favorite distilleries in Ireland and the United States. The plan is to continue to source their flagships and today they are laying down their own juice which is distilled in copper pot stills. Look for those iterations to please consumers in about two years. Pip is responsible for the bar, cocktail program and training. What you’ll find when you visit are three different bars and full kitchen for your enjoyment of this incredible whiskey brand.

Episode 116 – Spring House Spirits – Chris Demars – Randy and Jenn Litwin

This episode features Chris Demars, Randy Litwin and Jenn Litwin of Spring House Spirits.

Sixty years ago Chris’s grandmother taught him how to distill spirits, make wine and brew beer.  Chris worked as a nuclear engineer which is kind of like being a distiller.  He longed to come back to the family farm and get back to his distilling roots.  He pays homage to his grandmothers background by bringing several grains together in the mash bill.  This bespoke farm distillery is creating amazing spirits that are full of character and flavor.  Each bottle highlights the quality of the process, the local grains, and the connection to the history of the surrounding Chester County community.

Episode 83 – Kim and Tom Bard – The Bard Distillery

This episode features Kim Bard and Tom Bard of The Bard Distillery.

It all started in 2005 when tom walked into Kim’s race shop.  In 2006 they found themselves in Kentucky and decided to go to visit a distillery.  The chose to check out Maker’s Mark.  They loved the tour and afterwards they were fueled by what they saw.  They couldn’t stop talking about it,  The smells, the sights, the sounds and the people. They were not able to shake the idea.  In 2015 they took the plunge and purchased Tom’s old school, creating The Bard Distillery, which opened in 2019.  We had a fantastic experience at the distillery.  We got to see the vision of what it all will become.  Their spirits are wonderful and creative.
