Episode 181 – The Inn at Grace Winery –

In this episode we are joined by Andrew YingstCory Ruggiero and Rachel Rougeaux-Testerman of The Inn at Grace Winery

The bed and breakfast got it all started in the late 1980’s. Grace Le Vines left the property to Christopher Le Vines who established all of the cottages, the winery and vineyard. He changed the name to honor his sister. The grapes were planted in 2007. Pinot Grigio, Cabernet Fran, Chardonnay, Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc make up the varietals that were set into the limestone soil. Today the property boasts being a winery, restaurant, boutique hotel, tasting room and event space. The wines that are being produced are delicious and complex. They honor the history and the future of this hidden gem nestled in Delaware County, Pennsylvania.

Episode 124 – 2SP Brewing Company – Mike Contreras

This episode features Mike Contreras of 2SP Brewing Company. 2SP was conceived in 2015.

Mike is the director of sales and marketing.

While he was working at Dogfish Head Brewing, the owner of 2 Stones Pub, Mike Stiglitz gave him a call.

He shared that he was thinking about starting a brewery.

He was already filling out his team with Bob Barrar, who at the time was already a highly decorated brewer.

It was an easy decision for Mike to come on board.

The focus has been to build a nice regional brewery that provides local beer for the community that they can be proud of.

Today, 2SP is the 10th largest brewery in PA, providing wonderful, flavourful, complex beer.

Episode 115 – Kenwood Original – Matt Serra

This episode features Matt Serra of Kenwood Original.

Matt was working for Victory Brewing when the seed for a light beer option was planted.  Looking at the craft beer landscape he believed there was void for a light beer.  The idea for a Philly brand was born.  His experience in sales and marketing is helping to launch a light beer that is packed with flavor.  Kenwood Original is named for the street that Matt lived on for the first 15 years of his life.  From the first iteration of the brand they knew they had something special.

Episode 96 – The Flying Deutschman Food Truck – Stirling Sowerby

This episode features Stirling Sowerby of The Flying Deutschman Food Truck.

The Flying Deutschman Food Truck represents German food culture.  Stirling comes from a chef and restaurant background in Germany.  So he knows what he’s speaking about.  8 Years ago Heidi was created.  It’s a “Disneyesque” pirate themed culinary extravaganza.  His initial interest was to put a real restaurant that serves high quality food from a food truck.  “It’s about flare”, Stirling shared.  There’s an emphasis on customer service.  We enjoyed sitting down and interviewing the chef owner of one of our favorite food trucks.

Episode 77 – Julie Lanzillo – Pairings Cigar Bar

This episode features Julie Lanzillo of Pairings Cigar Bar.

In 2014 Julie, Debbie and Gary dined at one of their favorite spots.  They were going to a show as they lamented that it would be nice to enjoy a cigar after dinner.  They longed for the summer and the opportunity to smoke on the back deck where they could savor a cigar or two.  It was December and there was snow on the ground.  They discussed the possibilities but there is nothing in the area.  “A cigar bar in the Media area, that’s an interesting idea”, proclaimed Julie.  As Debbie says, “the universe doesn’t make mistakes”.  On October 21, 2016 they opened the doors.  In that time they have created an anchor for the community.  A place for the seasoned cigar aficionado and the novice alike.  Enjoy a fine spirit and pair it with your favorite or something new.

Episode 62 – Jack Fritz – Four Fingers Brewing Company

This episode features Jack Fritz of Four Fingers Brewing Company.

Jack has enjoyed craft beer from as early as he can remember trying his first beer.  He introduced craft to his dad Ross.  Ross began experimenting and brewing beer in his home.  He was getting really good at it.  So good in fact that they took the vacant space in a building that they own and opened Four Fingers Brewing Brewing Co.  They swung open the doors in late January of 2020 just before the Covid restrictions went into place.  The timing turned into a blessing in disguise.  It has given them the time to hone their beer and dial in the process.  This young craft brewery is producing some really fine beer.
