Episode 191 – Goodlands Food Co. – Anna Dausman

Goodlands Food Co. is a Philly based hot sauce company that was a pandemic hobby that turned into something bigger. Anna had a community garden with a plot that she started growing ghost peppers. The amusing part is that the garden is in a cemetery so ghost peppers are quite befitting. Anna’s friends and family kept asking her when she would be selling her incredible hot sauces. As Anna points out, “Goodlands creates colorful seasonal inspired hot sauces for people who love flavor.” These are hot sauces that will make your food taste even better.

Episode 165 – La Frikitona – Armando Rodriguez and Yesenia Westerband

This episode features Armando Rodriguez and Yesenia Westerband of La Frikitona.

Owning and running restaurants and kiosks on the beaches of Puerto Rico is in the blood of Yesenia and Armando. Coming to the United States they wanted to create the same family concept that they knew back home. They began to weigh the pros and cons of a brick and mortar building and a mobile business. They never imagined that one day that would own and operate a food truck. Or, more accurately a food trailer. The recipes are a combination of old family dishes and the focus of putting their own spin on the dietary desires of their customers. It’s authentic Puerto Rican cuisine with their own flavors and interpretations.

Episode 133 – Catoctin Creek Distilling Company – Becky Harris

This episode features Becky Harris of Catoctin Creek Distilling Company .

Becky and Scott founded Catoctin Creek in 2009. At the time there were about 200 distilleries in the United Sates and 6 in Virginia. They began with a vision of making rye whiskey which was “the whiskey” up until prohibition in the Mid-Atlantic States. At Cotoctin they use batch pot still distillation. This is the key to deriving the most flavor from the rye grain. In the beginning it was difficult to get farmers to take a chance on this little craft distillery. Today those farmers are glad that they did. Catoctin produces some of the finest rye whiskey’s. Combine that with the delicious cocktails in the tasting room and you have a recipe for continued growth and success. We enjoyed our fascinating conversation about history, the spirits industry and Catoctin Creek Distilling.

Episode 48 – Devil’s Creek Brewery – Kathy Ganser

This episode features Kathy Ganser of Devil’s Creek Brewery.

“Wouldn’t it be cool to start a brewery?”

The seed was planted in 2015, Kathy and Anthony decided to open a brewery.  Kathy went for it and dove right in.  Doing site planning and drawing from her background in graphic design, she made the branding come alive.  The name pays homage to a Jersey Devil sighting in Collingswood.  At the creek right behind where the brewery sits.  Like many breweries Anthony and Kathy began as home brewers.  Early on Anthony was winning awards for his home craft beer.  They put their heart and soul into building out the local neighborhood place.  Today Kathy is creating recipes that are winning awards in national competitions.  The beers are strong in flavor and character.  This women owned brewery is doing Collingswood proud and has quickly become a hot spot for the community.1 Powell Ln, Collingswood, NJ 08108 – (856) 425-2520 – www.devilscreekbrewery.com – Facebook
